Vice Commodore: Michael Kirchgestner
Michael has been a member of the San Diego yachting
community since buying the Bordeaux Breeze (a Hunter 376) in 2004. After a brief visit to
Mexico, he settled in Chula Vista’s California Yacht Marina and lived on the Breeze until
2010 when he met and married Mary Reynolds.
It was in Chula Vista that he joined the local yacht club and
began his sailing adventure. Learning to sail a 38 foot boat required a lot of help from other
members of the club which led to joining the sail and racing fleet. During this period Michael also
served on the club’s board of directors and was Commodore in 2013.
Since Mary recently retired from teaching, they have been
spending time remodeling their Condo but still have time to do a little travel as well as make a
weekly trip to the boat for some relaxation.
Michael is looking forward to this next year at PLYC and enjoying
the club events while meeting more of the club’s members and working towards insuring that the club
continues to have the welcoming atmosphere it has today.
