for our first race of the 2019 season…

Bob Kearns Memorial Race, Noon - Saturday   MAY 18, 2019, A TRULY FUN COURSE!

This race is in memoriam for our beloved treasurer and long time friend Bob Kearns who created this race for all members of Point Loma Yacht Club as well as other clubs.

Each year PLYC  has hosted the 4 Buoy Fiasco Race, the first race of the year.  It is a 'fun race' with opportunity for new racers, both skippers and crew, to learn about racing techniques and build their sailing skills.

This year we are changing the race to simply "The Bob Kearns Memorial Race", honoring the memory of long time Staff Commodore and Treasurer.  We are dropping the 4 Buoy Fiasco as we normalize the race to a "safer" one way course AND we are inviting other clubs and the Challenged Sailors San Diego to join us in the race.

The STARTING AREA will be near the center of Harbor Island near Point Loma Yacht Club (an area known as Harbor Island Park) 

This is a 'fun race' for PLYC members and all other yacht club members are welcome.
Entry Fee is $20 for non members. All PLYC Members race free.

The start line is between an orange flag on shore and channel marker 20, which has got to be one of the widest starting lines ever.

The four course marks are channel markers 18, 19, 21, and FM 19.

Boats will start with Spinnaker and non-spinnaker classes starting together. The finish line is the same as the same as the starting line

Please return the signed entry form to PLYC before Saturday May 19, 2019.
You may also turn it in after the race has been completed
