Director: David Rowe
David has been a member of PLYC since 2014. A lifelong
boater he has owned several vessels both sail and power. He learned to sail in his early
teens single and double-handing Hobie Cats in Newport
Harbor.
He has been an open water certified
diver since his late teens growing up in Orange County, CA diving much of the Southern California
coast, the Hawaiian Islands and numerous dive spots in the Caribbean and along the coasts of Mexico
and Central America.
Open ocean experience includes a multi-year excursion as Ship’s Crew and Watch Standard on the
exploratory vessel ‘Setco J’ in the Atlantic North Sea, hailing from Aberdeen, Scotland.
David has been a Yacht Broker and Site Manager for several Yacht Dealerships and Brokerages in
the San
Diego, Orange and Ventura, CA harbor areas, eventually owning his own brokerage in Ventura
Harbor.
Representing several yacht manufacturers and dealers, he would participate in up to 10 or more
boat shows per year predominantly along the US West Coast. Between personal vessels, brokerage sea
trials and new yacht trials and deliveries he has been afforded the opportunity to pilot literally
hundreds of different vessels both sail and power.
David was also a liveaboard boater for over a decade in San Diego Bay and Ventura Harbor. He
currently owns a 44’ Hylas sailboat, which he sails out of San Diego Bay.
